Vaughan Company Limited was founded in 1981 in Dublin as a technology manufacturing company. Our company produces a range of products including computer hardware, software, and consumer electronics. We have a current workforce of over 1,000 people and a turnover of €300 million.
The company was founded by William Vaughan who studied Electrical Engineering at the Trinity College of Dublin and began the audio-visual company All Wired Electronics. William had previously worked together in other family businesses, which their father had founded in the 1960s. William saw an opportunity in the burgeoning computer market and decided to set up his own company to manufacture computer components. He started out by importing parts from the US and assembling them in his Dublin factory. The company soon began to design and manufacture its own products and became a leading supplier of computer components in Europe.
After his son (Jacen) was born William started the research and launch of its first digital camera in the early 1990s. Vaughan diversified into the consumer electronics market. The company has since launched a number of successful consumer electronics products, including MP3 players and portable speakers. Vaughan has been a pioneer in the development of cutting-edge technologies. In the early 2000s, it was the first company to mass-produce Blu-ray Discs. More recently, it has developed 3D printing technology and is now one of the world’s leading suppliers of 3D printers. The Vaughan family has been awarded a number of prestigious accolades for their work in developing new technologies. In 2010, they were awarded the European Inventor of the Year award by the European Patent Office. In 2012, they were inducted into the Irish Business Hall of Fame. The company continues to go from strength to strength and is now one of the leading technology companies in Ireland and throughout the world.
